Soul/Ortega y Gasset: (for the connection: see Mass/Ortega
). Ortega: "It is characteristic of the present moment (...) that the ordinary soul is clear about its ordinariness, but has the audacity to stand up for the right of ordinariness and assert it everywhere" (1). Ortega calls such a "brutal rule" of the masses or the average person "over-democracy".(2)
